I was SmithRx’s founding designer, helping to build the “Zero to One” experience

We prioritized use cases that helped patients lead happier, healthier lives and gave administrators savings suggestions and control over their plan.

MVP Patient Experience: Mobile

Out patient-side MVP was designed to be actionable and easy to navigate. We prioritized high-value tasks like accessing member info, finding pharmacies, and checking progress towards meeting deductibles.

MVP Admin Experience: Desktop

The Admin MVP was designed to give plan administrators unprecedented levels of transparency and control over their plan.

While some power users enjoyed this, we found most users preferred a “white-glove” experience.

SmithRx is a new generation of Pharmacy Benefit Manager, and we wanted our site to embody that. We live our core values of transparency and patient-first thinking by anticipating users’ needs and guiding them to optimal solutions.

Summary

The lessons learned from our market-specific MVPs were invaluable for making SmithRx the brand it is today.

The biggest takeaway for me was to get products in front of real users early. While some users appreciated the fine-grain control, the majority wanted intelligent suggestions from an expert in the space. I’m proud of our solution’s ability to support both cases.
